In search of new music

Postby Spartennum117 on Thu Jul 29, 2010 10:35 am

Alright guys, I like the stuff i listen to currently, but i'm also in search of new stuff, I mainly like metal (saying as a general thing, i know that there are many sub-genres) but i listen to almost anything except country, and a little bit of rap, i'll list some of my favorite bands.

Avenged Seven fold
AC/DC
Killswitch Engage
Pantera
Slayer
Iron Maiden
Black Sabbath
Dio
Trivium
Lamb of God
System of a Down
Metallica
Anthrax
Megadeth
Eminem
Children of Bodom
Breaking Benjamin
Godsmack
Rammstein
Korn
Ozzy
ZZ Top
Pa Pa Roach
Saliva
Static-X
Fort Minor

Edit- I forgot to add Motley Crue and Rage against the Machine, i'm sure i'm missing more but i dunno, too tired to think.

that should be enough to figure out what i like i guess...or show me something completely unrelated, i may like it.

Dear "god" you have taken one of my favorite drummers the Rev, you have taken my favorite actor Patrick Swayze. I just wanted to let you know Obama is my favorite president.

Try Amon Amarth - Where is your God?

Some pretty brutal metal.

The last five in that list are Christian metal bands. That may matter if you prefer your music secular. As for me, well.... I'd never close myself off from the opposing argument. :)

If you're gonna look into Haste The Day, try to check out a song from each album. Every single album they've released has been very different.

If you don't mind Christian metal, add Zao, August Burns Red, Norma Jean, Blessed By A Broken Heart, and Oh, Sleeper to that list. Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster are good too if you like your metal to have a Southern edge to it.

As for non-Christian bands, try The Black Dahlia Murder, Winds of Plague, Whitechapel, Dillinger Escape Plan, Protest The Hero, Between The Buried And Me, Austrian Death Machine (the guy who does this is a Christian, but all his Christian lyrics are in As I Lay Dying, everything in ADM is about Arnold Schwarzenegger movies), Chimaira, Hellyeah, and Ultraspank.

It's not all metal but it never hurts to diversify your tastes.

My Morning Jacket - Touch Me I'm Going to Scream Part 2 - Good jam band, the atmosphere and beat are pretty cool
Passion Pit - Sleepyhead - I have no idea how to describe this.
Freezepop - Brainpower
Duck Duck Goose - Wonderful Wizard of LSD
Queens of the Stone Age - 3's and 7's
Priestess - Lay Down - Yes this was in GH3 but the rest of their shit is pretty good
Rage Against the Machine - Guerrilla Radio - Battle of LA has some good shit
Motley Crue - Kickstart My Heart - Classic 80s Glam
Dead Kenndys - Police Truck - Classic punk
Nine Inch Nails - The Hand That Feeds
Marilyn Manson - The Fight Song - Falls under the same category as Nine Inch Nails
iwrestledabearonce - See You in Shell - iwabo plug, still a great song and a relatively interesting music video

Pretty much anything by Seether.

Lately I've been listening to a group called Five Finger Death Punch, good stuff!

Shinedown is another really good band!

And the songs by Apocolypica that have a singer from an outside band are damn good! "I Don't Care. Feat. Adam Grontier)" "I'm Not Jesus. (Feat Cory Taylor)" And there is a new one out there I've yet to find.
